i know tis been asked, but how far is this site from denver again? ive gone to the north site, and its fine, but it takes me quite some time to get there. if im wanting to set up some metal targets at 300 yards and beyond, would the north or south site be best? thanks!

The south site takes me about 1 1/2-2 hours From Westminster. The spot that We grab most of the time is only about 100-110 yrds. But there are spots down there that should be able to get 300-400 out of.

Yeah, the 110yd spot seems to be the most popular. Where can you get 300-400yds? I usually don't take the road past the 110yd spot. What is past there? The first time I went, I stuck to the left side of the trails and went back kind of far when another truck came up behind me. I asked him where the shooting range was, and he pointed back to the 110yd spot. Does somebody live back there or something? He acted like he wasn't there to use the range and he didn't want me to follow him, so I've never ventured back that way since. Can anybody provide some input here? Thanks.

The sat photos show no homes but I do see cycles run those roads from time to time. You would want to be very carefull as you might not be expected.

Even at the 100yd line I have had an assclown walk behind the burm while we were shooting.

From the stop sign, The one we are at is about 800 yrds. Just before the FSR turns south.. If one goes up the hill a little bit, past the "No vehicles past this point" sign that is knocked down most of the time, There is a spot that We lasered out to about 250 yrds.

More or less the same spot, just a little south of "ours" If you were set up looking west. though, I really haven't checked it out myself, Have seen people shooting there, I'm sure if positioned right, Should be able to get about 3-400 out of that before the hill. Possible up to 600. My laser only goes out to 400.

Did take a short drive south on the FSR one time also, Looked like there might be a couple of decent spots there. Just didn't check into them that closely.. Only went "back" in there about 3/4 of a mile.

I don't recall the cost, but it's on the website. Initial join-up was the highest, but renewals are around $50 I think. There's an 8 hour "work bond" requirement, which if you DON'T meet there's an extra $80 tacked onto your renewal, but the work bond requirements are easy to meet with a little volunteer work, and each meeting you attend credits you with one hour towards the total of 8.

All the ranges are self-service, there's no range officers. Target stands are provided, when volunteers make some, but I usually bring our own so we're sure to have some. I made up a bunch of target stands and banked enough work bond hours for 2-3 years.

It really is a great place, IMO, but plan to spend most of the day there to get the most out of the drive. Bring a lunch and plenty to drink. I wish I could get my lazy ass out there more often, but then I'd run out of ammo faster.
