    Default Have You Noticed???

....that everyone who freaked out and paid to much for "Black Guns", is trying to sell them for stupid money? Even at the gun shows you can tell they paid to much when the prices were stupid from panic. Now they want to sell you a used gun for more than you can buy it for new and break it off in your ass. BUYER BEWARE!!! Has anyone else noticed??

I have noticed this a lot especially at the gun shows. Have you checked some of the firearms for sale lately?
People are trying to sell a firearm with 1k plus rounds fired (plain as day in the thread) and want to sell it for brand new prices. Yeah they have a holster or 2 included, but they are still used holsters and all.
Seems ridiculous to me. People are pretty proud of their scrap metal I guess or polymer scrap.

I just took a gander at a rifle up FS. I am not sure the poster realizes that his particular rifle is not worth what he or she is asking and a reasonable price would be at least 25% of what he or she is asking. That particular manufacturer is an average maker and not even close in MSRP to what he or she is asking.
Oh well, some person with either a ton of cash burning a hole in their pocket or a trust fund will end up buying it.

    Yes, I have seen that.

The "panic" drove up prices. Now that we are starting to see some normalization people are out of touch with the market and are trying to recover what they paid. Not going to work with a sophisticated buyer.

I see a lot of sellers trying to get $200-$300 more than certain handguns are worth.

Gun values don't always go up and stay up.

Some will certainly get someone to buy them. I'd guess that most won't get what they're asking, though. Some probably won't sell at all, as the seller won't want to take the loss they'd pretty much have to in order to sell it. This is just like all the folks running out and buying generators right before Y2K. Then trying to sell them a few months later for what they paid. I have the feeling that M4 clones are going to be almost a drug on the market here for a little while, or at least there will be a ton of them for sale everywhere you look.

I agree, good time to be a buyer!

I also think that Gunbroker.com artificially pushes up prices that people ask.

They see the collector grade prices on Gunbroker and ask the same price for their shooter.

Yeah, there are a lot of overly optimistic sellers right now. Of course, the pirces of guns and ammo have just gotten crazy over the last 10 years. I understand prices have to go up over time (inflation and all), but god damn! Big 5 in Pueblo is trying to sell a standard 10/22 for $269.

I bought my first 10/22 in 1992 for $89 bucks

I bought a Mini 14 in 1998 for $399. Now, they want $629 at WalMart?!

    Used stuff is worse.

I'll bet there will be a glut of cheap guns if the economy stays down. Just like there is a glut of cheap houses. I think we'll just have to wait it out.
