    Default Andy Anderson?

Anyone know if Andy of Andy's Custom Guns in Golden (worked out of his home) is still around? I found an obit online that sounds like him with the same SF background but I never knew his middle name, the one I found has a middle name of Charles, passed in September 2021. Just curious as in 2012 I was gifted one of his 1911s built in 2004. I am hesitant to call the number in case he has and I don't want to upset any family that may answer. Thanks.

His FFL shows expired in 2021 FWIW.

In 2012 one of my best friends unexpectedly passed away. He had been a home based ffl mostly to satisfy his collecting of S&W revolvers. Like me he was also a devotee of the 1911. In March of 2004 he bought a 1911 built by Andy as a tribute to the type of 1911 he used during his career. My friend let his ffl lapse and I helped out his widow sell off the roughly 35 guns left and get his logbooks and 4473 forms to the ATF. She insisted on gifting me the 1911. It’s a fine pistol and absolutely equal to my Les Baer 1911s in terms of accuracy and reliability.

It is built on a Caspian slide and frame, Kart barrel/bushing, Ed Brown safeties and internals, Koenig speed hammer. I had Novak’s change the front sight to their Megadot front with orange ring and Ghost wide notch rear.

That's a beauty - you should bring it to Whittington in October!

Thanks, I'm retiring in May so I'll have a lot more free time, I'll try to make it!
