    Default Grand Lake area

Looking at spending some time up there. I see there is a 200 yard state range. Any other private or public places to shoot?

Yes, just west of Byers Canyon on the way towards Kremmling there is a great public range right on the side of the highway. Long range shooting as well as berms.

Does Byers Canyon still require a fishing license to shoot there?

The CPW ranges require either a huntng or fishing license or SWA pass for anyone 16 or over. That said of all the times I've been to Byers I have never been asked for a license/pass nor have I ever even seen anybody checking passes.

On US40 between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parschall. Seems like the sign said a Habitat Stamp was "required". Been many years since I was there but yeah, it was pretty nice then!

To use the range, visitors must have a valid hunting license, fishing license, or State Wildlife Area pass. Passes are available to purchase at the Hot Sulphur Springs area wildlife office, one mile east of the range. The range is open from sunrise to sunset, May 1 through December 31.

Follow-up: I recently shot at the range midweek. All went well and it was not very busy. There was a state-logo'ed white SUV that I assumed was glassing the activity in each berm from afar as it drove west alongside the railroad tracks and stopped at each berm for a few minutes, but I didn't see them approach anyone.
