Morning update, there is word that a bolt action 30-06 mauser rifle was recovered in the area with the spent shell still chambered, supposedly the cartridges in the rifle had some writing on them about transgenderism and anti facist ideology.
Word is that CK was answering a question about trans shooters when he was shot.

My personal belief is that this was a professional assassin, and the writing on the cartridges is meant to mislead.

This isnt CNN. Well there are Socialists here - surprisingly silent BTW- but how about we hold off on some gossip? This happens every time and we can wait a moment or two for accurate information.

So, are we done talking now?

No. Kirk's greatest impact came from the fact that he engaged in conversation even (especially?) with those who disagreed with him. His assassination is just one more example of how the victims of political violence actually end up being even stronger symbols and having even greater impact after their martyrdom.

There is nothing to be gained from political violence -- far greater to show we are reasonable and peaceful. As bad as some of the Leftist responses have been online and in the media, I've also seen responses from lifelong Democrats who have said they are done with the Democratic party after seeing those responses.

Like most of these shootings, it takes hours/days to gather additional information, but it sounds like authorities are well on their way to identifying the shooter.
