POTUS is a Trojan horse that has steered the party into a direction that ends in the wreckage of a once admirable platform. Whether or not he has his personal vendettas does not justify the true losses to the values once held.

In any event, RIP Kirk. He would've made for an influential and successful politician.
Fair enough but you are maybe? ignoring? the point he's making.
To use your words, President Trump wasnt the one who initially steered the Nation and it's political parties into a direction that ends in the wreckage of a once admirable platform.
That began with the likes of Hilary, Obama and Biden.
They started this civil war we are in now, he is merely fighting back.
And he is using the same tools they use/d.

So if you lement the fact that Pres Trump is amoral/immoral/illegal -- choose your word/s for him- consider the fact that he's a product of their actions.
He wouldn't even be a notable figure at all if they hadn't screwed this country up so bad that he was/is/continues to be a viable and effective leader of our Nation.

Even more ironic to your comments is the fact that right now- former VP Harris is pimping her book.
How that (her Presidential run) unfolded was a horrendous violation of democratic function and principle.
And have you actually read some of what she is saying?
My God, it confirms how badly the Dems screwed this up.
But you are soley focused on Pres Trump and his misdeeds?

No, he's stuck cleaning up this big turd pile of a Country left by them.
And no, it's not pretty but he's working on it.

    PS:

Sir. with respect, I'm curious to hear your response to a question:
Progressives and certainly Socialist/Communists by their nature and purpose are seeking change. And by their doctrine, if they cant get that change peacefully, they do so with violence.
And they have been doing just that for 8? 10? years now.
With Mr Kirks assassination though they have reached a new level of violence.
He wasnt, say, Trump or an ICE Officer, or somehow a Soldier in this war.
He was a man of words and discussion.
    But they murdered him anyways.
You bring up "....longstanding mores supposedly held by us all......" so is this ready acceptance and justification of Murder one of the "mores" held by Democrats?

    Another PS:
    Foxtart:

I'm curious to get your thoughts on an obvious analogy:
Lets say our discussion gets out of hand, and I begin attacking you personally on this forum. And instead of "letting it go" I continue attacking you and make what might be false claims of say you being a Child Molester or that you beat your SO or something. What if I go so far as to "out you" and put your real name and address on this forum. What if I approach your work and bring them into this fight I have with you. What if I attack your family. And then as you are walking out of your house, someone comes up, calls you a Child Molester and shoots you dead.
Is it immoral or illegal for the Moderators to step in and either delete my comments, warn me to stop or ban me for my comments?
Is it immoral or illegal for your family to question or maybe sue this forum for allowing it?
Is it immoral for your family to be upset that some online argument over nothing led to your death?

It's clear you will always be a supporter of his. I don't want to derail this thread.

By the "mores previously held by us all" I mean conservatives. And by waste, I mean that party.

Your argument boils down to conservatives should do all the same things progressives do, to "fight them". There used to be a concept of "higher ground" and "morals". Decorum and mutual respect. If you claimed to champion rights, you also respected them.

It used to be that someone that religious backers strongly supported also generally exemplified their morals.

Erika's message was good. Trump's was not, he even backended and injected disproven autism conspiracy BS into what was supposed to be a funeral.

Final point: The party is no longer about values held, rights preserved, and conserving budget (which Trump also does not do, as I warned we are spending more month over month than prior years).

The party is reduced to a simple cult of personality for Trump. Whatever happens, must be entirely excused or justified. It works for today, but it likely causes irreversable damage going forward.

    Sir:
    Thank you for responding.
My comments about the Dems/Progressives/Communists are not my argument but observations of them. And as far as them- as a group- their "decorum and mutual respect" went "out the window" a LONG time ago. Mainly it started with Bush Jr and it has become more and more violent and outright disgusting. Of course only their ardent- I'll say delusional- followers believe that they remain somehow the standard of doing what is Right and Just. And most certainly they are NOT the defenders of the Constitution.
And that is also why they- many of them- have literally cheered Kirks assassination.
As far as the Republicans they as a group have NOT followed the Dems lead. They are and have been, as most conservatives are by nature, more reserved and methodical in pushing back of the Dems nonsense. Thats why they are winning elections.
I'll agree with you on two things.
I wish Pres Trump would act or more importantly talk like the President of the greatest nation on Earth. His trash talking is annoying and a distraction.
But unlike you I look past it and understand that he is talking to the VERY people who tried to literally destroy him thru lies and falsehoods.
I also agree that, right or wrong, he has taken over the Republican party and there doesn't seem to any internal opposition to him. But to his credit, despite his mouth, he has delivered and so what can they do?

But back on the murder of Mr Kirk. The point remains: He was murdered due to his views and comments. Fueled by the endless violent and disgusting encouragement from the Left. Name someone, anyone, who was murdered by the Right in the same manner.
So if you want to use your words...... The Conservatives still have the Moral upper ground you seek, not the Dems.
And like wise people like the President trying to hold people accountable for their comments which are nothing more than hate filled propaganda isn't an assault on free speech or the Constitution.
It's doing what was long ago established under the "code of ethics" you long for again: "mutual respect" you call it.
Or what I'll call having the moral decency to understand that your words have meaning and actions attached to them. So you ARE responsible for words said.
And so 100% you have freedom of speech here but you also bear the responsibly of what happens due to the words spoken.
And that was established in America LONG before Trump.
But as with all this the Dems dont care, so its left to the Conservatives to hold them to account for their words.
So on that, the Conservatives remain on the higher ground, not the Dems.

This whole situation makes me mad as hell. A good and virtuous man was murdered for believing most of the same things that I believe. Why was he murdered instead of me? Because he mattered more. He was having a bigger impact. He was an intellectual threat that the left couldn't defeat with reason and debate - so they killed him.

I came across this video last week that really has me thinking.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=azE7nqqQMmo

I appreciate the perspective, but I don't 100% buy into the "rich elites are doing this to keep the peasants under control" thing.

My take is (and has been for several years now) that there is a strange effect inherent in the system during this age of information where media of all types are rewarded for extreme and outlandish clickbait titles and content while happy good news stories are effectively punished because extreme/shocking titles and articles garner more clicks and more ad revenue than the story about the everyday guy or gal who did a nice human thing and helped their neighbor. The system is vicious and amplifies itself to the most extreme outcomes possible.

I don't know if it's a weird collision between Capitalism and the information age, or truly a devious scheme by billionaire pedophiles who seek to control everyone. I simply don't know.

I do know that it's incredibly toxic and does not lead to anything good, which is why several years ago I stopped watching "the news" and I only on average (maybe 5-10 mins once a day as I'm drinking my morning coffee?) check a few sites (WSJ, CNN, and Drudge are my preferred 3) to see if anything is happening in the world.

I have gravitated more toward using FirstAlert by Dataminr to key me into significant events happening around the world, and I try to seriously limit my time reading news. I rarely, if ever, watch cable news. I grew up watching it every night after dinner... first the big national programs, followed by the "local news at 8!" and as I got older, I just got so disheartened and disgusted that I stopped watching it. I've realized that I'm much happier not being plugged in all the time.

I admit it. I am willfully ignorant when it comes to pop culture and social crazes or who I am supposed to hate.... and I am quite happy with that.

HoneyBadger, that has got to be one of the most heartfelt responses - without hatred and bitterness - I've heard since this whole thing happened.

We live in an age where anger, fear and aggression have become the norm. As you pointed out, it dominates the news cycles and can easily pervade every part of us. The only real option to avoiding becoming consumed by it is to avoid it as much as possible. This would result in a certain level of ignorance, which can be blissful but can also keep from falling into the trap of divisiveness that's permeating everything.

    Default AR-1 Drone

This is probably the next technique for an assassin. Drone carries a rifle. With AI you can probably even let it loose and forget about it. Hell forget the gun, just spray VX nerve agent.
