You know, conservatives work heavily in the government too.
What if you, in your job, are told they will be taking an arbitrary break from paying you, but you're expected to keep showing up and continuing to work full time, while also covering shifts for those quitting or not showing up, and oh, maybe someday, we'll pay you back (with massive deductions taken out of an improperly calculated check), but also, maybe not, and if you quit, fuck you and any back pay.
Know any fed gov employees or contractors? Pretty sure people like stability and regular paychecks, not chaos, and forced furloughs, for non-specific times, and also with no clarity of if they will even receive backpay.
Facing possibly homelessness or bankruptcy while driving for Uber at minimum wage is probably not how they want to spend "time off".
Most people live paycheck-to-paycheck these days....
?because they have their food uber?d to them once a day or more.
The amount of wasteful spending I see is mind blowing. If you can pay all your bills and want doordash, go forcit. If you door-dash, then want sympathy for not being able to pay your rent, no sympathy is given.

Holy Crap!
WE might agree on something. Sortta.
FWIW: Most? Alot? of the Federal workers I know are still working so this "we are paying them but they aren't working" argument isn't valid. The ones that are furloughed aren't working OR getting paid.
They have received assurances that things like rent/mortgage wont be defaulted and will be allowed to "get caught up" once this clears.
And yes they will receive back pay, but that doesn't make it right or easy.
The Dems have reached a new low: They are truly and without question leveraging all this just to score some sort of point.
They dont give a rats ass about these workers........... they IMMEDIATELY refused a bill that would pay Fed workers during shut downs like this.
They dont care, they just need a win, any sort of win against Trump as so far he's been destroying them.

Despite signing a bill last time to the contrary, hasn't Trump broadly stated that furloughed workers wouldn't be paid? Not disagreeing with you, but just pointing out for all that there's no predictability here in any regard.
Dems are a huge issue, GOP doesn't have clean underwear either.
IMHO, most people live well beyond their means.
What happened to having a minimum of 6 month salary/expenses saved? Most of those fed jobs, and especially ATC, are well paying jobs.
If a 2-income family are both dependent on gov jobs, well I think that's just piss poor planning.

Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."

What I remember from high school was a recommendation of 2-3 months salary/expenses to be saved/available as cash or very liquid assets, not 6. Personally, I have about 8 months salary in cash simply because I didn't see any investments I felt comfortable with over the past few years and because I was raised to be frugal (read: cheap as f--k). I put about half of that into rotating certificates of deposit since the bank pays such horrible interest on savings accounts right now.
I have noticed that people have been raised to not be able to distinguish between want and need for the last generation or so. That current generation is all about instant gratification. That's probably a combination of the post-WWII consumer economy that replaced the traditional thrifty Yankee culture, a post-9/11 cultural reaction, and a continuing cultural transformation away from personal responsibility.
