    Default New to the forum

    Hello,

I'm a long time lurker and thought I would join this evening. I have always been fascinated by AK's since I grew up in Germany during the cold war era and have purchased a few to satisfy that fascination. Now, after reading as much as I can I thought I would set my goals on a nice beginners black rifle to start me off and see where that goes. I am located in the Security/Widefield area in southern Colorado Springs.

Welcome! A beginner's black rifle is a lot like a potato chip. Once you have one, you need more. So many calibers and configurations.......

Welcome to Colorado, the forum and the crazy fringe of our society.
Can you own AR's in Germany? If so, how does the general public view gun ownership?

I haven't been in Germany since the early 90's. I am not German just an ex-military brat who is almost all grown up. I spent 12 years of my life growing up there though.

Do any of you have a suggestion for a first black rifle? I am also thinking about getting rid of my xd-45 since I recently found a love for 1911's. This will help speed up the process of getting one of three firearms I currently want (a black rifle of the m4/ar type, a home defense shotgun, or a gsg-5). My friend has Rock River Armory (I think that is the brand name) M-4 with an eotech sight which I like. I would like to stay below the $1000 mark for my first one though.
