We all know, based off of previous experiences, regardless of any testimony against this resolution, the legislatures decision has already been made to pass this bill into law.

"Allowing" a public hearing, with statements from either side, is required by procedure, but ultimately is nothing more than theatrics to give the illusion of following mandatory democratic/legislative processes.

    KABUKI THEATER
In politics, "kabuki theater" refers to a highly stylized, choreographed performance where actors (politicians) go through familiar motions to create the appearance of conflict, drama, or negotiation, while the outcome is often predetermined. It signifies hollow political posturing, prioritizing theatrical showmanship and emotional appeals to constituents over substantive policy, often with a rigid, predictable structure

Key Aspects of "Kabuki Theater" in Politics:
Performance Over Substance: It is a derogatory term used to describe events, such as hearings or debates, that are seen as staged, scripted, and designed to look intense without accomplishing real change.
Pre-determined Outcomes: Often implies that opposing sides have already reached an agreement behind the scenes, making the public, dramatic dispute mere theater.
Political Posturing: Used to gain support, create an illusion of action, or "buy time" during negotiations.
Origin: The term is derived from traditional Japanese Kabuki theater, which is known for its exaggerated gestures, elaborate makeup, and dramatic, stylized movements.

That pretty much describes every Congressional hearing over the past decade, lol.

As a bill banning concealed-carry guns on college campuses makes its way through the legislature, the debate whether students ? especially women ? have the right to arm themselves has become a hot topic of discussion.

The issue escalated Monday after state Sen. Evie Hudak, a Westminster Democrat, told Amanda Collins, a college rape victim who testified against the bill, that even if she were armed the night of her attack, odds are she would not have stopped her rapist.

Seeking clarification on figures used by Hudak to support her claim, The Denver Post discovered the statistics are not an equal comparison to the argument.

Hudak argued that Collins? assailant was so big that he overpowered her and rendered her self-defense training ineffective.

Hudak also said, ?I just want to say that, actually statistics are not on your side even if you had a gun,? and cited data that ?for every one woman who used a handgun to kill someone in self-defense, 83 were murdered by them.?

But those figures apply to women with guns who are attacked by ?intimate acquaintances,? The Post found.
