    Default County zoning board info

Anyone ever been in front of their county zoning board/commissioners or whatever you call them?

What should I expect to go on? I'm not in CO. So with that being out of the way. What type of formalities take place? I'm in a rural county in TN. Due north of Nashville. I'm unincorporated and my property is zoned agricultural (or A1 I believe). I'm applying for special exemptions or variances. Basically I'm trying to get my FFL for gunsmithing purposes. The ATF has told me that I need county approval due to my zoning not being commercial.

I go in front of the board tommorow night so quick input would be nice.

    Thanks.

I have done it a number of times in Colorado. Generally they are reasonable people. Just explain that you want to use your land to make a living like everyone else. They should repect the land owner rights in that area.

I would dress respectfully but not over due it, don't want to be the city slicker from out west....

Good luck and do report back on the results.

I would explain what you went to school for and you intend to follow the law and make a living at it using your property. Also point out you are already working with the ATF to get the license and are doing this to make a living, pay your fair share of the taxes and all the other BS they want to hear.

^ That's pretty much what I was thinking. I just hope some of these commissioners are gun loving bubba's.

Great, but if your going to live there for an extended time, might not want to refer to them as bubbas, unless that is the actual name. I am betting that no more than 2 of the 5 were Bubba's legaly.

Since my move I have learned redneck is derogatory and hillbilly is more of a praise. I'm not sure where Bubba lines up. I feel like a Bubba these days. I embrace the title.
