Our 15+ yr old beagle/basset mutt is in a rough spot lately. Pretty deaf and blind, because of the 'betes. Most dry dog food is trash. Learning that the hard way.

Well Mr. Thor just turned 9years today. About 2 weeks ago he had operations to remove gland tumors and several lymph nodes.
He doesn?t want a picture posted as he is shaven like a poodle on his stomach and ass.
Hope he can make it to 10th birthday plus.

We've had him for 12, as a pound pickup, we'll never really know.

After researching the dog food, it's quite amazing how bad it really is.

Not many made with long term animal health in mind. Mostly profit in mind.

Who knows with the dog food. I did TONS of reading on dog foods years ago when I got my lab. Ended up with her on an expensive grain free, limited ingredient, high protein diet her whole life. No "meal" of anything. No "by product" etc. I wanted to give her the "best".

Diabetes still got her when she was 8. Rally bad too. She only made it another 8 months or so after diagnosis, taking shots twice a day before I had to bring her in for her last vet trip, blind and terribly under weight.

Every dog I've ever had on Purina died of simple old age and not some sort of disease.

Limited data for sure, but I've got my current dogs on Pro Plan. We'll see how that turns out 8-10 years from now.

16.5 years on science diet very limited medical issues. She was on low thyroid medicine for several years other than that nothing.
