...and when you get them to get up, they go lay down again between you and where you were going. Like clockwork.

My Aussie. Had him for two weeks and went camping in Moab. Everytime I got up the dog would grab the beer bottle between it's front legs and start lapping out of the bottle.

Laying in the pathway of foot traffic is a thing, man.

Damn right it is...that cartoon illustrates a day in my life with 4 Corgis perfectly. I've said "Make a Corgi hole" so much to my dogs that they actually get up and move out of the way now.

That's why the next dog I get is going to be named 'Indy', short for 'In-de-way'.

So Ziva always used to sleep in the hallway between the bedrooms when my younger son still lived at home. After he moved out she started sleeping in the bedroom, I would bring her bed in and she would snooze away. I bought her a bigger, more comfy bed to help with her hips and left it in the living room. Once the warmer weather started up she moved back up to the bedroom sleeping on the floor at the foot of the bed. She then started moving around the room a bit. Now one of her favorite spots is shown here. And she's got a snore going on LOL.

My old yellow lab does the same thing... She is 14 now and is pretty slow getting around. I keep buying nice comfy beds but she lays just like that with her head under the bed. I will move her dog bed to that spot and she will go to another spot around the bed where she can put her head under and snore. I even set it up so she could put her head under and still lay on the bed... not good enough rather just lay on the carpet.

I wish just in the way. More like road closed.
