Thumbs up Green Mountain Shooting Center

Shot at Green Mountain on Jewell and Wads today for the first time today. It was a little expensive, mostly since I needed to shoot the Rock River and the 1911 (separate range fees). Staff was friendly and quite entertaining. I am a fan of the walk down to change and check targets as well as being outside, but I will definitely be going back. I would recommend as a close place to shoot.

I agree, great range, nice folks.

    $21 per half hour IIRC.

I've been talking about this range for like two years on here, and people don't seem to even know about it. People are getting excited about some indoor range opening in Loveland or something and this place has existed right in their backyard for years now.

From what I understand, it's been there for a long time, but the last people to run it ran off a lot of customers, so when they changed management, they had to keep telling people that they were different guys now. At least that is the story from them. They have a few stupid rules there (that mostly don't apply to me or how I shoot) but I've been there several times with ALL ranges full and shooting and not seen any smoke at all. It was my first range I ever went to so I thought that was normal. It was a bit different when I went to the Shootist (which I also liked just fine).

Also, it was only $15 for an hour on the range the last time I went there, but they said it was only for an hour if there was a line, and there never was a line.

I've been meaning to get down there for a while now, seems like a quality place not too far from me. I just need to pick up some more ammo (waiting for a good sale on WWB or good link at least) and then it's time to

I've been there a few times...last time I went their rifle range was closed and the guy in there said he wasn't sure if he would let non-members shoot on it, so I haven't gone back.

Non-members? It's a public range. Or am I completely mistaken?

It was walk in, fill out some paperwork, inspect your ammo (no steel allowed) then pay.

A guy walked me to my lane.

they have a membership option that will give you reduced prices on the range + some free shoots per year...for like 200 a year or something. When I went in the guy told me some kid shot all the rails up with his ar-15, so I couldn't use my 10/22 in the rifle range. While I waited for a pistol range to open up, some other guys came in wanting to shoot their ars...and I overheard him saying the rifle range is closed for now, and he was thinking about making the rifle range member only, at least for anything bigger than a .22. Thats just what I over heard...

    VIP MEMBERSHIP….. $250 PER YEAR
    · Reduces price to $9 on the pistol range, and $14 on the rifle range.
    · One free shoot per year for you or a guest.

Thats their membership...like I said, this was after Christmas and i'm not sure if it went through, I just haven't been back since.

past owners messed it all up for the current owners... the old range was open, was closed, was open, was closed. bought by the new folks, I stopped in a few times, as I live not far from this range. The times I've stopped in to inquire about shooting, they seem like the gestapo and I'm not felt "welcome". So i've never shot at this new range...

They need to advertise a little bit and make some deals to get people in there shooting... maybe they are ok people after all.

I'll stop in again and see what feedback I receive this time around...
