    Default Question on XDs

I see a lot of XD and XDM for sale in the forum classifieds lately.

Do people not like them? If so, why?

There are several reasons you are seeing what seems like a high percentage of XD's for sale/trade.

    1) People that have XDs that they like will get a different model and not necessarily like it as much. (I love my tactical, but the sub-compact just didn't seem right to me, so it got traded)

    2) People have gotten different guns and are trading/selling off what they don't use any longer - there is an XDm listed currently that the owner got the new XDm 3.8" and likes it better.

    3) Like Glocks, the XD platform is very popular for many reasons, including cost, quality, features, etc. Therfore, there are proportionately more of them out there to be put up vs. other pistols. A lot of people will also put up their XD, Glock, etc for sale or trade as they know that they will be able to find a like replacement if they decide that they want to go back to them.

I don't think that there are any more problems with XDs (especially since they started using the Melonite finish years ago) than with other firearms). Like anything else, people will buy something and later decide they like something else, and if I were to use an analogy of automobiles it would be like the general population being willing to spend the money/afford a Chevrolet or Ford (XD, Glock, M&P, etc) than a BMW or Mercedes (HK, Sig, Kimber, etc) resulting in more of the less expensive models being available for resale, etc.

I like the XDs in all flavors. Good ambi ergonomics. Goes bang every time, after break-in. Growing aftermarket parts selection.

I just can't find the love for the XDM,though.

i shoot my XD better than any of my other guns. i was shooting at pop cans yesterday with my glock, p22, and XD, and 1911... the can was about 25 yards away, and i went through a mag with the glock, a mag with the p22, a mag with the 1911, and just kep barely missing it (im a bad shot) but the very first round with the XD i got it dead center. thats how it is at the indoor range too.
