    Default Best Droid apps....

    Just got my Droid the other day and have been looking around for cool apps... just extraneous free things really...
    (Pretty sure ALL were free...)

    Here are some gun ones:
    Mil-dot Calc: Just what it says - a Mil-dot calculator
    Shooter: Havent worked with this yet - looks cool
    SchottGunn: A shotgun.. that's it
    AK-47: An AK to mess with
    Gun Tones: A bit goofy - but hey - fun for a minute or two...
    Ruger SR-9: that is all it is...

    Some other good ones:
    Radar Now: Current weather radar.
    The Weather Channel: of course.
    Akido: A book reader app.
    Beer Cloud: Look up brewers, beers or scan the barcode for info on a beer!! This is cool.
    Google Sky Map: Maps the constellations and stars overhead.
    Nasa Wallpaper: yep.
    Gstrings: instrument tuner
    GPS Status: yep. with headings and accelerometer
    Guitar chords1: Just chords.
    Robotic Guitarist Free: Can play chords or independent strings. Coolest one yet for guitar - free.
    White noise Lite: White noise generator w/ nature sounds.

    Goofy stuff:
    Labrynth Lite: (Wooden type - table top) Maze game.
    Surveyor: looks cool - but haven't really messed wit hit...
    Tricorder: Yes, tricorder.

    Other cool stuff:
    Warplanes: Warplanes backgrounds
    United States Constitution: yeppers.
    US Presidents: Just a study guide like app.

    What have you found?
    What do you think is cool?

    Getting there - I hated it for the first hour... then I heard it's little voice cry: "Droid"
    and - well - you just can't help but love the little guy!
    Seriously - I am getting used to it - it is going to be a bigger change than I realized - it is more a micro-laptop than a phone...
    Yeah - I'm digging it.

    Network Discovery = nice for finding wifi
    TrixoColor = silly game
    Wheres My Drio = Lets you send and SMS text to your driod and light the GPS and volume
    Aldiko = Book Reader, pretty good
    Andriod Zip File Manager = duh
    3banana Notes = simple notes tool
    Unit Converter = cause I can't always remember metric to english conversions
    Google Voice = schweet
    Movie Finder = Cause Fandango on the Droid sucks
    CIDR = calculator
    /24 = IP Calculator
    Advanced Task Killer = Must have app killer
    Compass = Graphical compass
    Missed Call for Android = changes the LED light to indicate missed calls
    Bartender =
    Save MMS = lets you save Multimedia MMS files

    There are a few others, but all of those are free.

    So I left the iPhone to get a Droid, mostly because AT&T is frakking evil and should go out of business. But I digress..

    iPhone = Smoother user interface and function = easier for the average user
    Driod (Android) = this is the Geeks phone, deeper control of the device ect, UI is not as slick, but still pretty damn nice = not the device for the below average user

    I have an iPhone (probably have equivalent apps) but would add to your list:
    APMEX to check gold and silver prices (stock up).
    Showtimes to check what's playing at Elvis (cheapy theater).

    I picked up these in the last few days - they are good apps...
    Network Discovery = nice for finding wifi
    Wheres My Drio = Lets you send and SMS text to your driod and light the GPS and volume
    3banana Notes = simple notes tool
    Unit Converter = cause I can't always remember metric to english conversions
    Advanced Task Killer = Must have app killer
    Compass = Graphical compass
    Is this just a voice dial app?
    Google Voice = schweet
    I went with the "Movies" app... may have to chek the other out...
    Movie Finder = Cause Fandango on the Droid sucks
    Some of the other ones you mention -
    May have to try these:
    Missed Call for Android = changes the LED light to indicate missed calls
    Bartender =
    Save MMS = lets you save Multimedia MMS files
    What is this one?
    /24 = IP Calculator

    Google voice does a ton of things, more like unified messaging than anything else

    IP Calculator is used by geeks for subnetting and other unfun IP stuff.
