they were surely vfr which basically means heads outside. airliners rarely look outside unless they get a traffic alert from atc or the airplane or if they hear there is a fighter or air force one around or something cool

I'm trying to stay out of this thread because I have no idea what went on and feel it is unfair to guess at the reasons for the crash. However, I think it's only a matter of time before people start accusing the pilot of texting or something.
