He served honorably as a Marine. That's all that I can say.

Okay, I'll give him some points for his time as a Marine, but somewhere along the way he seemed to forget what it was to look out for others and about PUBLIC service, not self-service.

Clears the ways for someone better to take the office. It would be nice if a TRUE Conservative (versus a Neo-Con) could get into that office.

He was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1974, becoming the first Vietnam War combat veteran elected to Congress.

On Saturday Feb. 6, Murtha became the longest serving member of Congress from Pennsylvania.

So, he came back from Vietnam bitter against the government and took an office that he chose to never leave. The guy was 77. He should have retired YEARS ago.

On Saturday, he apparently JUST broke the record of the longest serving member of Congress from PA. Like most broken records, he didn't break it by much!
