    Default Colorado Springs lead source

Western Scrap at 3315 Drennan Industrial Loop #5 has some nice ingots of melted down range lead. Ingots are about the size of a 4 qt bowl.
I just melted 65 pounds of the stuff and it much nicer then dealing with wheel weights. Less waste and less work.

Good to know! What are they charging for it? One of the scrap yards down here is asking $1 per pound! They're smoking crack if they think I'm paying that dang much.

If you can find fairly clean lead for a better price let us know. This stuff is already melted down, no wheel weight clips, zinc weights or bullet jackets in the stuff I bought.

Ok, you guys are right. I guess I just didn't do the math. Tell you what, I'll call tomorrow and get the most current price and post it here.

A while back the price was closer to 30 cents per pound but this was nasty plumbing lead and tire wieghts.

If you know the volume and mass of the ingot, you can tell if it's pure lead or if anything is mixed into it. Divide the mass by the volume. Density is an intensive property and doesn't change. The Denisty of lead is 11.35 g/cm3.

Volume can be figured out by LxWxH (in cm) Do the weight in grams. Or, convert everything...
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
