I don't think calibers define a collection, I think firearm types do.

What I think would be a complete collection is:

    -pocket pistol (.22 or .380 .38 Spcl)
    -Compact semi auto handgun (9mm, .40, .45, .357 SIG)
-Large frame revolver (.357 Mag, .44)
    -Large semi auto (.40, .45, .357SIG, 10mm)
    -Light Tactical Carbine (5.56, 5.45, 7.62x39)(SBR)
    -Heavy Tactical Carbine (.308, 6.8SPC)
    -Sub Machine Gun (pistol cartridges)
    -Plinking Rifle (.22)
    -Hunting/Bolt rifle (.308, 30-06, ...?)
-Light Sniper Rifle (.338 LM, .408 Chey Tac)
-Heavy Sniper Rifle (.50 BMG, .416 Barrett)
    -Small pump shotgun (12GA)
    -Long hunting shotgun (12GA)

    I think that's about all you'll need.

    my list

    .22lr rifle
    .22lr pistol
    380 concealable pistol
    9mm pistol (concealable)
    45 pistol (1911 and concealable)
44 mag for wilderness protection (could substitute 500 S&W!!!)
    5.56x45 AR platform
7.62x51 bolt gun (although I would prefer 300 win mag but 7.62 is more popular to find ammo)
50 BMG for very long range and taking down large animals...you never know how many people you might have to feed
12 gauge pump shotgun for protection and bird hunting etc.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

I like this idea. but there is nothing in north america you can't kill with a good .22 but here is my list.

My .223 Ar with a wide variety of bullets and grain weight nothing it will not take care of.
A 308 bolt action for the very common caliber and those pesky shots past what My Ar. is capable of (past 800 yards on things bigger than people)
My .45 cal 1911 I think it is just a great all around round for dear sized game both four and two legged.
My 12ga shotgun for our flying and two legged friends that are within 50 yards.
And a .22lr for the fact I can fairly quietly dispose of and eat smaller game without having to break the bank and I can fit five hundred plus rounds in pockets or pouches without really weighing me down. I am also comfy using it on dear sized game within 75 or so yards.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I think this whole thread in in the wrong place.

This area is for alternate calibers AR-15's- does this need to be moved?

Most of those posted by the original thread won't even work in the AR-15 platform

Now it has taken a turn and listing all the cool guns you think you should have??
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

If it needs to be moved, feel free. Why do a lot of people want both a .22 rifle and pistol?

    Hell why not.

    Kel Tec PMR 30. .22WMR

    Ruger 10/22 .22LR

    Sig P220 or 1911 .45

    AK variant 7.62x39

    Saiga (converted of course) .308/7.62x51

Pump shotty or Saiga 12 12guage

    Rem 700 30-06

And ammo you can swim in for all of the above.

No really I'm just kidding. This is all just a dream. I own no guns, I'm too broke.

.45 ACP works on it too. Along with some like .223 WSSM, .243 WSSM, .25 WSSM, and more.

I couldn't do 1 per household member. I couldn't limit myself that way!

I figure a complete collection is what you have in the safe(s) when you die!
