    I'd recommend getting a good container,bag,backpack-whatever you prefer and putting together your own. It's usually cheaper and better built if you do your own. JMHO
    Just reread your post-if your talking about at home supplies-good shelf system and buy what you will need and most importantly what you'll eat(as in your usual food supplies). I have a couple of cases of MRE's,plenty of water,bought some canned supplies from the LDS site,stock up on canned goods when on sale,TP,toiletries,rice,etc. I camp a lot so I keep fuels on hand for lanterns and stoves.Optional heat such as kerosene tower,small propane heaters(Lowes will be clearing out these in the next few weeks at 50%-70% off). The list can go on and on but I'm set for any long term natural or man made disasters. Plus guns and ammo

    Not to mention you are more likely to be familiar with how everything works if you build it yourself.
