What, you want more? Isn't Obama making YOUR car and housing payments?

    I wish!
It is ridiculous how much the banks make off a home mortgage, I would be better off to buy land, live on welfare and build a house myself, then find a job and not have a mortgage.

I was astounded when I bought my house how much you pay in interest over the life of a loan. it is sickening.

They make a killing when you add it up over 30 years.

It's been a few years, but I recall seeing the total amount I'd pay over the life of my 30 year mortgage. It came to 2 1/2 - 3x what I borrowed.

If I could have used that money to pay for mtn property I'd have a nice place to live.

Yep, I just bought a new house and we will end up paying just over twice the original price of the house if we pay just the standard payments.
My aunt is a Realtor and told me if I pay an extra 2 payments a year I would have it paid off in about 18 years.
Other than the fact that we don't have that much extra money and I definitely don't plan on staying there more than 5 it is near pointless.
I can only hope the value of the house appreciates quite a bit and I can make some extra money off it that way.

And I wonder why people rent. They aren't putting their money into anything but they aren't giving the bank a rent payment every month or two either.
