    Default Working from home!

Curious... how many of you work from home?

I was a commercial banker until last year when the banks were Obamized. Now I work few hours here and there at home, mostly brokering deals within my network. The income has not changed much, thank God! However, after working my butt off for the last decade, I forgot how to enjoy life! The phrase Dont work hard, work smart is finally understood.

Side effect? I go through cases of ammo faster than ever! More trips to the ranges!

+1. I'd go crazy trying to fit back into the corporate structure. And yes, it does help get the ammo supply down.

I've been mobile/transient since ~early 99', doesn't matter where I'm at on the planet but I do spend 2-4 days a week in a local office now by design to exploit select resources.

The down-side, I'm always working, literally, that side of my personality wins out but I wouldn't trade the flexibility for anything. I'm sittin' near timberline now and more productive than ever (except I'm burnin' time on this forum at the moment )

I've been working from home for almost 5 years now. For most of that time I supervised a geographically dispersed team doing ID administration. Currently at the same company I project manage IT security projects.

Some good things is days like today, no need to drive anywhere. Since I don't smoke, I do things like loads of laundry and call those "breaks". I also really enjoy being able to do a decent cooked lunch. Take 2 minutes put something in the oven, when done mark myself as on lunch.

Bad things is there have been days when I notice I haven't left my office for 12 hours. When you don't have people dropping by you can lose track of time. Another thing is so often because I work from home there is an expectation that I'm available for calls at all hours of the day.

With the changes big blue has been doing I suspect in the next year or two at most I'll be back to driving into Boulder.

I work from home... it would take doubling my salary to get me back in an office.
