I'm tired of shitty dead end jobs, tired of paying for school myself. I want to get into law enforcement, so I signed up for security forces.

I feel like a dumbass going through BMT as a 30 year old, but whatever, it will be worth it.

Would have gone full enlistment, but I"m too old.

Spend a little time learning this now. It is the Securty Forces Creed and all SF members are required to recite the creed prior to receiving their badge (shield).

USAF Security Forces Creed

I am a security force member. I hold allegiance to my country, devotion to duty, and personal integrity above all. I wear my shield of authority with dignity and restraint, and promote by example high standards of conduct, appearance, courtesy, and performance. I seek no favor because of my position. I perform my duties in a firm, courteous, and impartial manner, irrespective of a person's color, race, religion, national origin, or sex. I strive to merit the respect of my fellow airmen and all with whom I come in contact.

Just let me know when you have some time I'll show you what to do with your beret to get it to look like the one in the pic and make it fit nicely.

So, think you'll be able to qualify with an M4 (actually, I'd be surprised if they have you initially QC with an M4 instead of an M16)? Ever handle a weapon like that before?

Congrats and you know that you can count on me if you need anything. Just remember that BMT is mostly about testing your mental stamina - lots of mind games in USAF BMT.

Do you know what unit you will be assigned to after Tech School? Both the 302 Airlift Wing (at Peterson) and the 310 Space Wing (at Schriever) have a lot of SF personnel assigned. I know (or at least USEZD TO KNOW) folks in the 302AW, & the 310SW is right next to where I work now.

When I was in all we had to know were the ones in red text. It was easy to remember with this pneumonic:

Get........Group
Sore.......Squadron
Feet.......Flight (The Flight is the smallest element in the Air Force, but can actually have 100 people in it. Typically, Security Forces units are broken down into Flights [sort of like "shifts" or teams] and have alphabetic designations such as Alpha Flight, Beta Flight, Charlie Flight...)
