Default Old Man and Kelly, or, How I Refinished My Stocks

Here are a few pics of the Garand, Old Man, and My M1A, Kelly. Because I suck I forgot to take before pictures. Old Man's stock was beat up pretty good, with a lot of dings and dents and 50 years of cosmoline. Kelly's stock is a new Boyd's oversized national match stock. Either Boyd's, or the previous owner, had used a very dark stain on the wood; darker than the Garand stock by a factor of two!

The garand stock took a turn through the dishwasher, which did an amazing job. After drying and sanding, it got 6 coats of boiled linseed oil, and so far, one coat of tung oil. The M1A stock was sanded down to the grain, then received 10 coats of tung oil only.
