    Default Remember Waco

I thought this would be a good topic to have a discussion on. I have found that allot of people especially in my younger generation do not know what really took place there and I don't believe it is a thing that should be forgotten. Ruby ridge should also be discussed. Thoughts?

I spent a lot of time reading the wiki pages on Waco, Ruby Ridge, The Rainbow Festival(?), and that guy in the 1970's who had his door kicked down in a no knock raid (forget his name). There was a lot of interesting (and totally uncool) stuff that went on with both Ruby Ridge and Waco. I put them both into the Major Screw Up category personally, but at the same time realize how everything looks clear as a bell after the fact.

I remember My mother said she was watching it live on tv when a police officer was releasing his statement that there was a tank present she said as soon as he said "tank" that they shut off the camera and the young fellow was not seen again. Any other weird stuff anybody know about?

Basically everything that the government claimed in order to get the warrants was false, and they knew it was false the whole time. There was never any evidence of anything they were accused of in either case.

I have read a few books on those incidents. I think there are a lot of cops and agents, even a few higher ups, that are pissed the way the bosses let it go down. It ruined a lot of careers and gave a lot of bad reputations.

At least some incidents allow for the supreme court to make case law about. I am curious about that guy that had the 'no know raid' in the '70's. I know nothing about it, if you have a link or more info please attach.

    Thanks

I forget his name, but he is mentioned in the book Unintended Consequences I believe.

Someone on another board was reading the book and posted up a short list of events to look into, and a few links (not wikipedia) on Ruby Ridge and Waco. I don't remember the links though, so didn't mention them. I think the deal with the guy was that he had some dummy grenades in his apartment and some kid saw them and the police got called. That's all I remember though.

EDIT: Here it is. Ken Ballew. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Ballew_raid
