Hi Al my dad are coming to the shoot tomorrow and it will be our first time experiencing a 3 gun match. We just recently got our first AR and we have a pistol and shot guns (none of them being tactical) and i was considering signing up and competing but im not sure any advice?Originally Posted by 55fmj

It seems like I'm always jumping in front of Al on this thread but I feel like answering a question.
My first advice to anyone new is to just get together the gear you have, ammo for the guns you're missing, and go. You should at least have a gun belt, holster, and mag pouches for your pistol because those tend to be more unique and are a pain to share. If you have something to carry shotgun shells bring that but, at least speaking for myself, you can often get a loaner. A pouch for an extra rifle mag is good but a pocket will do you just fine for a while. You should bring a hat, sunscreen, and extra water as well.
Also, read the range rules on the web site and make sure you don't have any magnetic ammo. Other than that just pay attention to the safety briefing, be nice to people, and have a good time. You probably will.
