Default some one told me to introduce myself

Yes I am new this forum and too guns. I guess I have to explain why I want a gun. I am not into guns in the sporting sense. I want protection since I live in the city. It sucks not to feel safe especially in the parts of the city like Lodo area where you would think it would be safe. The thugs have taken over, and me and my girlfriend got beaten up, and being out numbered I couldn't really do much but take the beating. So my motivation is to find a hand gun for a good price.

Going out and buying a gun after getting beaten up is the wrong path man.

I've been jumped in Lodo as well.

Okay, maybe "wrong path" was a bad way to phrase it. I think maybe saying it is not the best place to start would have been better.

Welcome to the board. Have any immediate questions? Have you fired a gun before?

I have fired a rifle, shotgun, and a hand gun before in Oregon, that was when I was a lot younger. I didn't think a lot about guns before, and thought that it would be good to have stronger gun laws, but now I think I should be able to protect my self from thugs.

We all agree with you there. I'm just encouraging you to think about the big picture is all.

Don't let your anger at the situation get you so fired up that you are willing to pack heat all the time without a permit. You can say that you'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 (which is true), but the fact of the matter is that 99.99% of the time you spend carrying, you aren't going to be in a situation where you'd use it to defend yourself, so you're really just voluntarily putting yourself in a potentially bad position.

After I got jumped, I was pretty angry and entered a few fights I had no part in, and was generally more aggressive than I usually am. This lasted for a few months.

    Welcome

Have you thought of mace/tear gas? Those things are a BLAST on thugs and won't get you put in jail or sued for man slaughter.

It's pretty funny seeing a street wanna be thug after they've been maced plus it doesn't ruin your evening with cops and statements and all
