Martial law next?

Knowing enough military and police folks, martial law absolutely will not happen just because. It would have to be a huge actual national disaster, not just a political disaster. The small percentage of military folks who would enforce something like that would be dwarfed by the number who who wouldn't.

after personally being sent to the LA Riots, I think the military and police will do what they are told. Nobody wants to get in trouble. And nobody wants to lose their job. I believe that if this kind of thing goes down on a small scale and from location to location, we the public will be screwed. I think that if it was done nation wide, maybe the guys in the military would rebel. But, I dont believe all the talk. Most guys will do as they are told. Unless it came down the chain from the Generals to disobey congress, the president etc. we are screwed.

Being in the Military myself, I dont know of ONE PERSON who would turn against there own fellow countrymen!!!
You forget, we have families, children etc. Most in the military do not support Obama. I have yet to find one who does openly and the ones suckered to vote for him have regretted it openly.
For the US Soldier to turn on its own people is ridiculous! I know I would do what is needed to prevent this, even put it all on the line.
We only have to respect the position in the Chain of Command NOT the man himself. We will see how much support he gets after next years GENEROUS 1.3% pay raise!!!!!

I don't think it'll happen, but if it did, I agree that it would be like that. The "good guys" will have their jobs and freedom threatened to keep them in line. Worrying about how you'll put a food into the mouth of and a roof over the head of little Mary and John's heads will keep a parent in line.
