IMO, Bisquick makes the worst pancakes, those are enough to turn anybody off to pancakes. And if you ever try to eat buckwheat pancakes, you'll never touch 'em again!

Absolutely agree, make your own buttermilk pancakes from scratch! search the web for Alton Brown's recipe, it includes making your own "quick mix" from scratch and you wont' be disappointed.

    cheers,
    Tim

YES! That's some good stuff right there. I started to use buttermilk in my pancakes about a year ago and (in my opinion) it makes the pancakes fluffier and so much sweeter tasting.

I used to have this excellent Black & Decker griddle/waffle iron that was the same style as my mom had while I was growing up (http://www.blackanddeckerappliances....le-waffle.aspx). The griddle plates come out, flip around and are huge square waffle molds. My wife threw mine away when she decided that it wasn't shiney enough or we didn't use it or something. Now, I have to use a skillet ot cook my pancakes instead of a griddle - skillets do not do nearly as good of a job cooking pancakes as a griddle.

Well, by God! I'd say she owes you a new one, pronto! And it had better be shiny!

What is wrong with her doesn't she know that with things like waffle irons, griddles, pizzelle irons etc... the less shiny the better.Yes i agree skillets really suck for pancakes.

I agree with you on the Bisquick eval, but I enjoy Buckwheat pancakes - about once every 5 - 10 years.
