Default Anyone been to the North Site lately?

I have a visitor from out of town that would like to go, but I'm thinking that the north site is too snow packed. Anyone have an update?

I was up there last Saturday after the previous storm and there was about a foot on the ground but was melting through out the day of shooting. I can imagine the last storm made it pretty bad up there but if you can stand the snow there will be very few people up there...

Thunderstorms on the way the next few days though...

I'm headed up today. Leaving Boulder in about 30 minutes, should be there by 12:30pm if anyone would like to join me. If there's a Red Toyota PU in the parking area you'll know I'm there. I made one of the target stands from the plans here. I have 5 IPSC cardboard targets and a dozen paper. Bringing my G26, Ruger LCP, and Ruger 10/22

Where is the north site located? I am new to shooting and looking for area's to shoot. I keep reading post on the north and south sites, but where are these sites? Sorry about such a rookie question, I am just trying to educate myself.

I found the location in the Main post on "places to shoot" entered the coordinates into my GPS and it took me right to the parking spot.

However I will say that I don't think the North site would be best for new shooters until they are 100% checked out on SAFETY!!! Honestly I was pretty nervous when I pulled up yesterday as there was another car already parked. I approached cautiously and announced myself as I walked closer. The moment he heard me he "unloaded and showed a clear chamber". I knew he thought as I did....SAFETY. He was shooting his mini-14's and I set up in the pistol pit. After about 40 minutes of each of us doing our own thing I let him try a magazine in my LCP and my G26. First off, the LCP is fine right out of the box, I put exactly 50 rounds through it with the last magazine full of defenzive winchester hollow points, no issues. But man do I enjoy the Glock 26. What a beautiful tool.

My only complaint about the LCP is that I don't like the sites so I changed my style after 20 rounds and found my core, and let the rest go "point shooting". Must say that was all I needed as the group got smaller and smaller.

He then let me throw a 10 rd magazine of 223 at his 75 yard target. Save the 1st 2 shots the last 8 were in a 2" group. I say ok for the first time shooting a mini-14 or any rifle with optics...no?

I filled a big black contractors back with JUNK, red 12ga shells, broken glass, cans, and why the F can't people take their used targets with them?

What a great place to shoot...now...sush...don't tell anyone ;?)

I was up there a couple of weeks ago and had the place to myself

There wasn't any trash apart from the 100's of red shotgun shells.

What is it with shotgun shells, LHC is covered in them too?
