Default need help picking a scope or red dot

ii just need a decent scope or red dot sight for my AR for prairie dogs, and i found one at sportsmans warehouse for like $60.00, but i didnt know how good it could be for that much. i just want one that i can zero at 100 yards or so, and i dont need anything fancy. would a red dot be any good for that distance?

You're going to shoot at 100 yards or zero at 100 yards? I understand from your question that you only plan to shoot to a distance of 100 yards. True?

Most red dots have no magnification. Prairie dogs are pretty small at 100 yards at 1X, so you might want something at least 4X or so.

+1 on prairie dogs being tiny at 100 - If its only for shooting dogs around 100yds, get a 1 to 4x burris or 2-6x millet or the like. don't spend too much on an optic that is only for 100 yds.

The Burris Fullfield II 3x9 is a great optic for the money. Plenty for 100 yds.
