I saw it a few weeks ago, seemed to me thathe was way to cowboy.

The one seen that struck me and made me feel for the troops was the camera man filming and everyone understanding what he was doing but not being able to target him. I think that was the most honest feeling scene.

Seems to me that if we are sending those boys over we need to let them open up the can.

Although there were a few "Hollywood" parts, I liked it.

i liked the move as well my only problem with the movie was when he decided to be a hero and hunt down the terrorists felt that was a little Hollywood in my opinion! i wouldent think a squad of 3 men would risk there lives in the middle of the dark with no support besides themselves! basically wasn't to fond of the ending it could have been a little better! but they have to make it a Hollywood movie i guess. all in all it was a good movie to watch!

Movie was way under the radar for a long time-I saw it when it first came out in limited release and thought it was good. I've added it to my war movie collection since then.

I was honestly surprised it got all of the accolades. I thought it is good, but not that good.

I enjoyed it and thought it was intense.

NPR interviewed a few military people about it and I thought those guys acted dumb and blew it way out of proportion. The one guy was complaining and said that it wasn't an accurate picture of the military at all. He brought up how the guy doesn't use the robots and diffuses stuff himself. I thought the movie made it pretty obvious that pretty much everything the protagonist does is way over the top and not at all normal. They just don't make movies about people doing things the way they are supposed or events going as planned.

NPR also reported that half the troops they asked about the movie said they knew someone just like that and thought they knew the guy the movie was based on, and the other half said the movie was based on THEM. Including one guy that is actually suing because he says the character is based on him.

I agree. I enjoyed it when I saw it, but I'm not sure why it won the Oscar. I didn't get to see all the best picture nominees this year (I did last year), but of the ones I did see, I would have given it to District 9.

And of the ones not nominated, I would have given it to A Single Man. I bet no one else here saw that

I thought it was ok, you have to expect a certain level of drama added to entertain the non-hackers out there. In the military you learn that there are only two types of movies; 1. Educational, this is how you do your job and not kill anyone else in the process. 2. Entertainment, a colorfull assortment of pictures and sounds, to temporarily distract you from where you are, and what you are doing there.
