While it does sound interesting (for 33 minutes anyway), there's no way I can make this. If anyone else goes, please give us a report.

so basically if they launched, unless you live a good ways outside of the city or from a big target you are totally fucked. it would take at least 5 minutes to get some shit together and get out...and only 20-25 minutes to drive...I don't think it would do a whole lot of good.

I don't think you would have to worry about bugging out. By the time the government had a press conference to announce a missile was launched at us we'd already be a week into nuclear winter. Then, by the time they scrambled assets to respond it it (747 with laser, patriot missiles, etc), the first generation of the post-nuclear ecosystem would be having children.

That's what a lot of conspiracy theorists don't get. While we can do something right now (call your friend, tell him a big dude is coming over to kick his $$$ and he better run) the government doesn't work... at all. Norad phones that a missile is inbound, you can pretty much guarantee it will hit its target even if we have an active defense network by then.....
Cause you know, it would be unsafe to actually have "armed" anti-missiles loaded all the time, "one could accidentally go off and shoot down a plane or something, but they should have enough time to load them when they finally get the order to (3 hours after the first missile launches)..."

And of course, the lynch-pin - the guy that sits on the trigger button on the equipment would not care about his job as he makes just above minimum wage with no rank and is more concerned about "don't ask don't tell" than watching a screen or sitting by the phone...

I was gonna put a humorous reply to this, but as someone who is in the Defense Missile Warning community, I have to take some offense to your comments. Particularly your last paragraph. I'm damned glad to say that I'm a professional, and all of the troops that work with me or for me are professionals.
