Default Is .22lr ammo suddenly more valuable?

I noticed Walmart had Federal 550rnd bulk for $18.97 a box. Last month I payed $15.97. Is Walmart just charging more or did something happen to push up the price of .22lr? Find it odd that would go up so much when other ammo prices seem to have stabilized.

I remember when that stuff was like $9. I haven't bought any because it's been so much.

Yeah, but it still beats the $200 I just paid for 500 rounds of .223. This hobby definitely isn't getting any cheaper.

    Wally World raised it's prices....

They swoop in, under bid mom and pop shops, and then find the ceiling with their prices after the competition is gone....

But I'm still sitting on a few thousand rounds, lol, so I haven't bought any for a while!!! And I'm with Stuart, last time I bought some it was less than $10 for 500 rnds or something like that.

I used to see cheap bricks of .22 at the store and think about buying some because I knew I'd eventually get a .22. However, it was right when the panic started so I didn't want to be the asshole buying bullets for a gun I didn't even have. Now I wish I would have. The only reason I even have any .22lr now is because I bought some when I went shooting with my bud and borrowed a rifle.

Poor Donkey... well, let me know if you ever want to borrow mine. It's a stock Ruger 10/22 w/irons, but man that thing is accurate. Was hitting 4 inch size steel plates at 100 yards! And it's so smooth....

That's actually exactly what I was doing with the borrowed rifle. Thanks for the offer, but I've got a .22lr now. I want to pick up my little brother's savage as well.

Yeah prices of .22 lr have been pissing me off. I shoot about a brick per month on average. Occasionally, I'll burn a brick of cheap Wally-World Federal in a day. The problem we have down here in Pueblo is not just price, but availability as well. I'll buy at least two bricks when I can find it.

Fortunately, my dad just hooked me up with about 10,000 rounds of Federal Lightening he had been sitting on for about 20 years. Can't beat free plinking ammo!

Seems the going price just about anywhere for 500-550rds is about $20 so this is nothing new. Was nice when it was $15 only a few weeks ago but, like everything else gun related, they jack up the price until we quit buying. Who can blame them? Sucks for all of us but if you don't like it... quit buying so they're forced to lower prices again.
