Default Need sleeping bag / bedroll suggestions...

Not sure this is the right forum, but my 20 year old Coleman finally gave up the ghost and I'm in need of a new bag.

I tried one of those "mummy" bags and hate 'em. I have chronic back pain and toss and turn at night. The "mummy" bags snare my feet and give me a clostraphobic feeling on top of waking me up all night!

I was checking out the bed rolls at Sportsmans, but they seemed overly bulky.

Not looking for sub-zero, but at least down to 20. Needs to be rugged like the old Colemans.

Any ideas? What's working for you guys?

    Default Check ou

The Big Bertha bags, very roomy. The other thing you might want to check out, since I used to get the claustrophobic feeling too - is what is known as a sleeping bag liner... meant to preserve the more expensive ultralight bags, the liners are made out of a variety of things, like polypropolene and silk, you just slide around in the liner with no catching your feet on anything.

I wouldn't think of NOT using a liner anymore, it's just very comfy and slick.

Thanks! I'll check them out and the liner too. Any particular brand liner you've come to love?

I've been using a Mountain Hardware down 'Crazy Legs.' Don't know if they make them any more but super comfy. My next bag will probably be a Wiggys or Kifaru.

I have one that's about the size of two small bags zipped together. It's been very durable, it's flannel lined so it stays warm and it gives me plenty of room to move around. It perfectly covers the top of a twin mattress if that gives you some idea of size. Don't have a clue who made it but I think I got it at Sportsman's Warehouse.
