    i know the legal age to purchase a hand gun thru ffl is 21, can you own a hand gun if you are not 21 and buy private party

    yes, you have to be 18 to buy FTF private sale.
    the 21 rule is through an FFL. a lot of them are ignorant on the private sales, so if they tell you otherwise at some point take the law in and school them...

    This has been asked on the sight many times, general answer is Yes, You can legally sell, and buy from a private party at 18. At 18 You can carry open (don't advise) in a car, on private property, Or are required to carry one in order to carry out You're duties at work, or own or work on a farm ranch. But it is really up to You're best judgement I have met people for transactions that "just didn't smell right" and refused to sell regardless of age. But if You wanna be sure in order to CYA look up the co. revised statutes, There are a few threads on here that have more info and links, And next time You are at a firearms store pick up the little yellow pamphlet on the Firearms act for minors or juveniles or whatever they call it now it defines a minor as anyone under 18.
