    Default Well, solved that problem

So in conjunction with my other thread about wanting to buy a S&W M&P 15-22 http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22359 I did find one, and at a great price. Only problem is, because I live in the wonderful town they call Denver, we have this brilliant rule about not being able to own a magazine with a capacity over 21 rounds. Well the 15-22 comes with a 25 round mag. Because of this dumb ass law in Denver the place I bought the gun from would not send me the mag that is supposed to come with the gun, so they pulled it out and shipped the gun without a mag.

S&W does make a 10 round mag, but it is the same size as the standard 30 round mag, IMO they look ridiculous and serve no purpose of being that long.

So I went out and bought a 25 round mag and decided to bastardize it.

So in conclusion, shame on S&W for not making better/more mags for there weapon, and fuck Denver for there stupid ass law.

Heres what I ended up with after playing in the garage for a little while today.

On the left you can see the section I cut out and did not use.

Basically what I did was cut the bottom off so I could use the stock floor plate, cut a section out of the center of it, and cut down the spring. Then used an industrial 2 part epoxy and glued the 2 sections back together. So now I have a 10 round mag that looks better and is much more convenient if I am going to be bench shooting.

The law in Denver specifically exempts .22

Which isn't to say that our cops and DA(s) won't try the "forfeit the gun and we'll drop (frivolous) charges" ploy.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, huh?

    http://library.municode.com/HTML/102...AIV_D2_s38-130

    Sec. 38-130. Assault weapons.

    (c)
Specific weapons not included. As used in this section, assault weapon does not include any of the following:

    <truncated>

    (2)
Any firearm that uses .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.

Again, though, DPD has been known to disregard the law, even for nonresidents transiting the city, in contravention of subsection (e). The arrangement usually looks like "forfeit the gun and we won't prosecute".

No not exactly what I wanted to hear. But if it is still possible to get busted with it I will avoid the whole situation. I will try and make a bunch more of the shorter mags.

    Thanks for the info Llama.

How can they confiscate the weapon, if technically it is not illegal?

    Thanks

I don't have links to specific incidents, and am having trouble relocating them. The stories tend to show up on blogs, which disappear quickly. Someone might be able to dig them up.

    I got this:

Wow thats too bad. Oh well, I am happier with the shorter mags anyway. I like the way they look too.

    Thanks for the info!

Well....I don't have the gun yet, I wanted to be prepaired for when it got here. So, I will have to get back to you on how it performs.

    Thanks
