Default I'm Thinking of moving to Lamar

    Is anyone here from Lamar?

I want to move out of Denver. I've been looking at Lamar, Colorado on the internet. Anybody here have any coments about Lamar before I make a trip down to explore?

Is Lamar and Prowers County gun and NFA friendly?

Thanks for any input you offer.

Ther is a couple of small shooting ranges near there.. One at the Mike Higbee SWA. Then one just south of Springfield.. Just east of the John Martin Res. Nice spot for catfish and bass.. That is if the water level is up.. Close to the Camanche NGL. The town itself is nice,,though I Haven't spent that much time there.. Seems to have everything there about the size of Castle Rock I'd say..

Lamar? why? Guess there are worse places... ha ha. Guess it depends on your career path and if there is work available. Nothing but farming and oil field work east/South of Denver usually.

I've done some plumbing work out there. It seems that there are a fair number of people who work for DOC out there. It is a primarily an agricultural town. Probably not a whole lot in the way of employment opportunities.

In my experience most rural areas are pretty gun friendly.

May I ask why Lamar? I moved out to the country myself, but what draws you to Lamar specifically?

I want to get away from the liberals along the front range. I think Lamar is unlikly to be overrun by the liberals. I was originally thinking of getting out of Colorado altogether because of the fear that the front range liberals may ruin the whole state. Ritter said he wanted to make Colorado into another California and the possiblity of Hickenloper being the next governor terrifies me. I may still go out of state.

I am retired so I don't have to worry about employment. The Mike Higbee State Wildlife Area is only minutes away and looks like it might have a nice shooting range. I found a list that shows six FFLs there. Lamar is a center for the area so it appears to have decent medical and other support facilities. There is fast internet available. It is on a couple well traveled state highways.
