    Default Homebuilding Title 2 firearms

    I hunted around a bit and came up with nothing.
    So here's the question;
    I buy an MP5 "kit" and a reciever and build the weapon.
    How does the trust get a tax stamp for it?

    Think HK94 trigger group

    I would imagine the trust gets the tax stamp for it when you file a Form 1 to make an SBR or MG.
    Dude, where's my can?

    Except you won't be approved to make an MG on Form 1 unless you have proof it's being made for a government entity (which your trust, presumably, isn't?).

    With an MP5 kit and a semi receiver and HK94 trigger group, you could build a semi MP5 clone SBR. All necessary ATF paperwork can be requested or downloaded from the ATF and/or the site at titleii.com. You'll need Form 1 (5320.1, Application to Make and Register a Firearm) and Form 5330.20 (Certificate of Compliance)

    1) Form your trust.
    2) Fill out a Form 1 in duplicate with your trust information, the particulars of the SBR you intend to build (barrel length, overall length, the exact markings you will add to the receiver).
    3) Submit the duplicate Form 1 with a 5330.20 citizenship certification, copies of your trust documentation and a check for $200 made out to the BATFE, to the address on the Form 1.
    4) wait
    5) wait some more
    6) eventually get back either the approved Form 1 with a cancelled tax stamp on it, or a request for additional documentation, or a denial.
    7) presuming it's approved, you can then mark the semi Title 1 receiver with your name, city and state (as you are now going to be the manufacturer of the new Title 2 firearm you are creating) and build the SBR out from the MP5 parts kit, semi receiver and HK94 trigger group.

    Thanks, that's pretty much how I figured it would work. I mean it's logical.

    NFA is actually really fast right now. I sent in a Form 1 on 05 April and got it back today. 2.5 weeks for a Form 1 isn't too bad.

    Just so you know, HK full auto sears are north of $12.5K right now.
