Started in my current field 30 years ago. Before that I spent 4 years as a line wrench at a Chevy dealership.

I guess the good thing about being an "old Fart" is I have just over 4 years to go to retirement @ 56. Everything I have is paid for except the house (almost) and I will only lose about 10K per year in income.

I will say to all the 20somethings out there is I hope you are already putting away and planning. My plan changed a little when I turned 33 but the goal did not.

I hope you, me and the rest of us have a backup plan, not sure the original will be there when we need it (SS).
