Question Shipping firearms person to person in State

I searched, only thing I found related was shipping firearms to oneself from out of state. My question is, am I still required to ship to an FFL if it is an instate transaction between two different parties? Thanks.

Part of this is probably old news.....but....

As an "unlicensed person" (non FFL) you can NOT "mail" a handgun through the Postal Service. You CAN mail a long gun through the Postal service.

You CAN ship a handgun through another common or contract carrier.

    About the "same state" question....
NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS LEGAL ADVICE!!!
I am just quoting the following from the BATF FAQ page.

(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by common or contract carrier?

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.
In state sales ARE legal in Colorado.
    No FFL required.

you can ship a handgun or a long gun to a resident of the same state. I advise you to make sure you get a copy of their drivers license mailed to you to verify their address etc.
you can not ship a handgun via USPS but that is their policy. UPS and fedex will take handguns.
all of them will take long guns.

FedEx says the recepient should be a dealer, and I do recall them asking that specifically at the counter.

"from individuals to licensed importers, licensed manufacturers or licensed dealers (and return of same)."

I'm too lazy to look up UPS for you

with both UPS and Fedex you will be surprised at the lack of knowledge they have on the subject.
I have heard UPS people say they don't accept guns at all as corporate policy. they do take them though.

UPS will ship them but you have to go to the hub, the ups stores will not take them.
