Gen 4 Glocks

I just picked up a G22 Gen 4, I hadnt gone out looking for one because I am happy with the 3rd gen's. But I do like bigger mag release, the frame is rougher then Gen 3 but not as bad as RTF. I havent shot it yet so I dont know about the dual recoil spring op yet. I will find out today or tomorrow though

I actually wanted a G23 but Neves was out. Again though that is my favorite shop to go to, the employees are top notch!!! At least at Neves they know the difference between Gen 3, Gen 4 and RTF. My local dealer still calls the RTF a Gen 4.

I like the interchangable backstrap and the new texturing. The internals are essentially the same. I'm totally disgusted by the redesigned recoil spring system. It's a step back in reliability and versatility IMO. I'm not a fan of the new mag release system either. I like the fact it's an ambi, but it's too flush with the receiver; far from a fast mag change with it, and the mag release spring in the one I fondled was way too heavy. I would hav preferred it to not protude as far back into the grip and be about 1/16th to 1/8th an inch longer with a 2 lb lighter spring.

Kinks in the new designs. I suspect someone will come out with a replacement for the new recoil spring system that will work better than the factory one and allow for different spring weights. The mag release you are stuck with unless Glock redesigns it or an aftermarket replacement comes out.

The mag release on mine sticks out at least as far as the 3rd gen factory ones. It wouldnt be hard to make it extended though. I will have to wait until I shoot it tomorrow to report on the recoil spring, it is said they reduce felt recoil, which isnt necesary but wouldnt hurt on a 40. It does make it "more" necesary to break a Glock in now because the springs are noticeably stiffer. I am hearing 100-200 rds before shooting lighter loads. But I dont shoot light loads anyways. I tried the backstraps, I like the largest one the best for hand feel which is the same as a traditional Glock frame, but I will try shooting with the medium and without just to see how it shoots. I do definitley like the texture on the grip though, rough enough to grip but smooth enough for IWB carry.

I would have worked a deal on my Glock 22 4th gen if I would have known you wanted one. I have a NIB one I am getting ready to post in the classifieds.

I love the new gen 4 but all of the new changes on the back straps dont help me because it fits my hand good without them. Im not sure if it just me but I think the dual recoil spings do help with felt recoil.

I agree w/ Neve's weapons dept pesonal. They are knowledgable. Well.. They only sell 3-4 brands of pistols.

What? There is another brand? I have only bought 2 Glocks from them but both times I was there they were very friendly. Unlike a store in Loveland I have been to

I have put a couple hundred rds through it now, it took a lil breaking in unlike the 2nd and 3rd gens I have owned. The first 50 rds I had 4 FTE's. But after that it was smooth. Keep the slide locked back a while before shooting, my recoil spring was so tight the slide wouldnt clear the next rd in the mag after firing, the empty case was jamming on the rd in the mag. Also my mag springs are stiffer, newest follower and a "2" in the lower right rear of the mag. But the felt recoil does seem lighter. I have only shot to 30yds so far but it is pop can MOA! Now I just need some operator pro sites.

Oh Neve's employees are awsome, except the casher w/ glasses. I never seen her smile before.

I believe they have XDs, Kahrs, and Glocks that I know for sure.
So far, I only bought a G26 from them. Planning to buy G19 gen4 when it comes out.
Other than those, I just buy stuff on eBay!

I've been sniffing the Glock 19 Gen 4 koolaid. Some reviews say the "small" grip geometry is closer to a 1911/XD. Some say otherwise.

I like the Glock reliability be never liked the ergonomics. Trying to drop the mag with the left index finger was next to impossible. I always found myself aiming at ceiling tiles too.

I like the left or right mag release but how can they call it ambi? It's one or the other.

The whole finger grip thing is lost on me. I see some Dremel time if a one were to follow me home. I have the same aversion to wrap around grips on 1911s.

This would also be used for by smaller handed people, so the increased spring weight is a concern.

Guess I will be making a trip to the local GS and seeing for myself.

Now, what the Hell is Neve's?
