Default I need to recover some court documents

Hey guys, I need to recover some court documents of a name change I went through when I was about 6 months old in order to clear up some issues with my CCW. I've attempted to clear this up in the past but never got very far. I'm confident I can get this all figured out, but if anyone has any tips on where to start (who I should call first) I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

I'm guessing but I believe you'd have to contact the jurisdiction where the name change took place-courthouse-city hall ?

+1... also, your parents may have some info too if they changed your name.

I think that's what I did last time. That's where I figured I'd have to start. Kind of seems like a stupid question, but when I thought I was on the right track last time, I never got any where. I probably called the wrong department and they didn't know how to help me.

BigBear, if my parents had the papers, I wouldn't have to go hunt them down silly goose.

Why would you change Grand Master Know It All ?

It doesn't all fit on my driver's license. I can only fit Grand Master K and then people think I'm a DJ or something.

If you explain the circumstances to the DMV I believe they will accomodate you with a longer license-just saying !

Start with the County Clerk's office for where you had the name change, in addition you will probably need some documentation from the Social Security Office (good luck there). The County Clerk will be the only place you can get court docs, you will probably have to pay a fee as well and depending on how old the docs are you may run into a lot of road blocks.

Post the county and I may have a good phone number for you, I used to do background checks so I have a good list of County Clerks and direct phone numbers.

It is Jefferson County. I've called them and spent a few minutes sifting through all the different menus and listening to minutes long recordings. It sounds like what I need to do is just go down there in person and ask to see records. I really only need a photo copy of the records. I wish they'd make it easier to speak with an actual person though.
