Remember the "Sims" games - same sorta thing. Personally, I only have time for 1 life (and I don't do a great job with that one). Games like this (and even the Star Wars online game "Galaxies" require so much time and effort that it's like having a second job - forget that!

Are you nuts? That would require EFFORT. Plus there is the risk of being emotionally or physically hurt. I'll just stay here in my pod and pretend that this is what the real world actually is.

I personally believe that the downfall of American society came with the removal of large front porches. It used to be that you'd sit out on your front porch and talk to folks walking by. Or you'd be the one walking and you'd join a neighbor on their porch for a glass of lemonade or such.

Front porches went away, we isolated ourselves in our homes - behind the protection of our front doors where we no longer had to share and risk.

I've actually been expecting this since 2004 when LucasArts changed some of the rules in the game Galaxies. Things people had "worked for" were removed and some things became a "gimme" to others. The furvor was amazing - for a simple game.

Pathetic is when a 14 YO chooses to play a "shoot 'em up" game on his X Box full of MP5 wielding soldiers that can blow up tanks with 9mm (okay maybe they're 10mm) rather than go out and practice actual shooting skills at the range! (with big Evil black rifles no less)
Thank god I have a daughter who is interested in the outdoors.

I don't even have a personal computer.... not that I wouldn't like one to play games every now and then....

I'm active outdoors and I'm still a fat ass... it sucks.

I know! How is the youth gonna get to 2nd base without a porch swing?

My house has a porch, works well too, and I make an effort to stalk (I mean talk) to my neighbors often. It just depends on the neighborhood I guess...

wish the old radar gun hadn't broke, it was fun sitting on the porch clocking people...
