Ammo suggestions for Ruger 10/22 rifle
I picked up a Ruger 10/22 for my son several years ago for $99 when the new Gart/Sports Authority opened near Costco in Superior. Left it in the box for several years, I know, I should have disassembled it and lubed it for storage, but alas, I was lazy. Before I took it out shooting last week I cleaned and oiled it to Ruger specs but had a TON of misfeeds, probably the old cheap ammo I had. Winchester XPERT lead hollow point 22lr with 3 OEM Ruger 10rd mags. Couldn't get through 1 10rd string without a failure to feed.
thoughts?

Angels rejoice when BigBears trumpet blows
Hmm... I have the Ruger 10/22 carbine model and it eats ANYTHING I give it.
Try taking her apart and give her a good cleaning and lubing and try again. I have yet to have any problems with mine, even with aftermarket mags that every one says are horrible.
I do think that the "Eley" ammunition is becoming something of an accuracy standard ammunition if you want to try to pick up some of that. It can be found at ammotogo.com for a decent price.

I have 4 of these suckers. The only one that feeds anything is one I got back in 86. It was my first rifle.
The only reliable 22 ammo I have found to feed well in any 22lr is CCI Blazer 40 grain round nose.
I avoid the 22lr Hollow Point stuff like its the plague never can get it to feed in any of my 22's.

Yeah, the Winchester X-pert has a real flat nose on it and tends to not feed in my 10/22. Just for plinking you might try the Federal or Remington bulk pack. Particularly the Federal. Just my two cents.

Paper Hunter
I don't know if this is related to your FTF but this took me a long time to figure this particular problem out and maybe it will help.
I bought one used and it had FTF & FTE "issues" until I discovered that the previous owner mounted a scope on it and the screws were too long so they were interfering with the smooth operation of the bolt. Since I solved that problem I have had 0 problems and it eats every thing I feed it.

Grand Master Know It All
Clean really well and run a box of mini mags through it.
