CSU rescinds concealed weapons ban

FORT COLLINS - Colorado State University's governing board on Wednesday rescinded its controversial ban on concealed weapons on campus.




The CSU Board of Governors unanimously approved rescinding the ban, which members approved in February. The ban was to have taken effect Aug. 1.
In April, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that a similar longstanding ban at the University of Colorado was illegal. That decision bolstered a lawsuit by the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, which is suing CSU over the now-eliminated ban.
It was not immediately clear how Wednesday's decision affected that lawsuit. CSU faced a Friday deadline to respond to the suit.
CSU board members said they still believe that keeping weapons off campus is generally a good idea, but agreed the court ruling bound them to act.
"Our hands are sort of tied," board member John Ikard said.

I find it amusing that the board voted to lift the ban, they were gonna be required to lift it by the court.
