I browsed through the article, but I want to be clear on something. The case in California was different than the one in Denver right? In Denver, at least the school said they sent the kids home because they were being rowdy and causing a disturbance. It sounds like in California they sent the kids home just for showing up wearing American Flag t-shirts.
"There are no finger prints under water."
It'd be one thing if they were going around trying to start fights or something, but the article doesn't even hint at that. Sounds like the school was afraid for their safety and sent them home to me. They should have said, "these students have a right to display their pride for their country, the same country that YOU all live in. Any student who doesn't like it can go home, or will be SENT home if problems arise."
Well, in my fantasy world that's how it would have gone.
One time in high school, instead of dressing up like a Farmer for school spirit day, I dressed up like a ghost. All day people just asked if I was a Klan member.![]()

Haha!! So one of my best friends is a black guy... HUGE black guy, like 6'5 and 320lbs, with like 2% body fat. Anyways, one time in our undergrad I (white guy) dressed up like a Black Panther member (La Raza beret, black combat boots, and all!!) and he (black guy) dressed up as a Klan member! HAHA. The looks (and threats) we got all day were priceless. We didn't last past the first class before we were "asked" to go home and change. I have pics somewhere... I'll try to find them.![]()
I am glad this happened, it will only hurt their cause.
here's the email I sent, cc'd to the district.
Hi Nick,
My name is Elhuero. I would like to know how the hell you get off thinking it's OK to punish kids for wearing the Stars and Stripes to school. Seriously, I'd like to know what you were thinking. Was it a "seemed like a good idea at the time" situation? Or are you an impotent figurehead and your school is really run by mob rule and racial intimidation? I know you're getting flooded with emails right now, so I don't expect an answer. Have a wonderful day, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now.
Sincerely,
Elhuero
