I kept hearing about this recently, and thought it was the old record set by the Canadian. I thought that one was also 1.5 miles. Maybe it was only 1.5 Kilometers.![]()

"There are no finger prints under water."
I am not questioning the skills of the shooter.
I was looking at the physics and probability of making a 2700 yard shot.
pssht metric system....
"A lot of people seem obliged to have a viewpoint."
Question - is there a laser range finder that can measure that distance with less than a 5 yard error?
if anyone has one that can I'm sure it's the military!
Using my previous data (250gr SMK) the danger area for that shot at 2700 yards is only about 10 yards for a 1/2 human torso shot.

Another point.
The rounds would have gone subsonic around 2000 yards.
I can remember making 900+ yard shots on an old VW bus with a 10/22. As I recall, we were shooting downhill about 75 feet to the target, and we had to aim about 6-7 busses high......
Hit percentage was maybe 30% after we got the range, but those 50 grain bullets still had enough oomph to knock holes in the rusty parts...![]()
