Seems like the guy was well intentioned, but forgot some important things. Like how you still have to work your ass off and do your homework. When you exclude other colored students, then you make the experience all about being black, and not about working hard to get there.

Equal opportunity now applies to non-gringos only![]()
"Equal opportunity" always applied to non-gringos only, my friend
if it were reversed, they would have burned the school down and looted the town.
"i gotta gets me a new tv."
fire the fucking racist...white kids would be interested in a scientist too. teaching is supposed to be beyond color and say: "hey that guy is a scientist, not a "black" scientist."
and people wonder why progress is soooo slow when it comes to racial issues.
but, of course, since he is black there will be a small slap on the wrist, and nothing will be heard after that
If the guy was white he would've been fired and accused of being KKK!
There'll not even be a slap on the wrist as everyone will be afraid that he'll pull the racism card!
Equal opportunity my ass!
Maybe he was trying to teach the class on profiling
He should be fired for selectively picking which students get an education. That's the simplest form of the action he took.
I agree, his line of thinking was well intentioned... however, as soon as he secluded certain students and mentioned the "African American" Scientist, it turned into a racial line of thought. There are some depraved white, yellow, red, etc kids that I'm positive would've loved to be inspired by the rocket scientist, regardless of his color.
Big +1.... Equal opportunity was implemented because the "white" guys got everything (that they worked for) and apparenelty this was unfair to some others, so equal opportunity and entitlement were born.
Another big +1. Unfortunately, since the schools are run with government money... and unperforming, dedagraded schools get MORE money (first off, how does that work?! lol) the racial profiling does "come in handy".
i.e. X school with X kids who pass state mandated tests will get x money... however, x school with x kids who do not pass tests will get even more x money to try to "help" them along. Unfortunately, it often falls that some of the lower performing schools tend to be in lower social-economic regions which primarily are those of black or other minority ethinicities. When they get the money however, it rarely actually goes to the right places... Big screen TVs for the rooms, new football equipment, etc. Rarely into teaching, etc.
Personally, I'm tired of it all. I'm to the point where I don't think I care anymore. If I ever get teh priviledge of having my own kids, Lord knows I'll be raising and teaching them as much as possible outside of the school system.
Programs like Equal Opportunity and Welfare are great examples of things that should have been temporary to help grease the wheels of society, then should have been ended asap. Welfare is a bad example because each individual should have a limit, not necessarily the program.
