Default Shipping in state w/o FFL

I remember a thread on this not long ago, but I've done some looking back and can't seem to find it.

Is it legal to ship Rifles or Handguns directly to someone without an FFL if it's in-state only? What's the recommended method of shipping something like a Rifle? There's a member selling a .22 carbine here, but I don't want to drive all the way up to Denver for a $350 plinker.

Sorry for asking a question that's been answered, but I'd like some more clarity before I ask them to ship it to me directly.

Legal to ship both rifles and handguns in-state.

Handguns cannot go US Postal Service, though, except between two FFLs.

I usually use UPS ground or USPS parcel post for long guns.

    Yup, legal.
For rifles, I usually just send them Priority Mail.
